UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center

Judith A. Varner, Ph.D., is a Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the Moores Cancer Center, University of California. She received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Duke University. She received a Fulbright fellowship for graduate studies at the University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland where she completed her PhD in Biochemistry. Dr. Varner is a leader in the field of tumor angiogenesis and inflammation. Her research has focused on understanding complex roles of integrins and signaling molecules in the tumor microenvironment and is currently focused on signaling pathways that regulate macrophage phenotypes in cancer. Her current research on the roles of myeloid cell PI3Kgamma and BTK indicate that these molecules are useful targets for solid tumor therapy.
